As the Eagles welcome one of the greatest players in team history to their stadium, they may get another back in their lineup.

The Broncos play the Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field, marking the return of seven-time Pro Bowl safety Brian Dawkins, who spent 13 seasons with the Eagles before signing with Denver.

Now that the Eagles have clinched a playoff berth, it will be nice for Reid to see his franchise back in action before the postseason starts.

"[We'll] just give him limited reps to start off and see how he feels and evaluate it as we go here. I think it's good for everybody. I think that's a positive. It's good for him; it's good for the team. That's a good football player."

"Most of all, you miss him as a person," Reid said. "He's a great guy. He was a big part of us getting to where we have gotten as an organization. To say I don't miss him on a daily basis, I used to enjoy seeing him and being around him. He brought a lot of energy. I have nothing but good things to say about him or [Denver RB Correll Buckhalter]. Those were two of my favorite guys and they're doing a heck of a job for Denver now.

I always say that when you are a kid and you get into a fight with your brother, for about a second there it's about the most vicious fight you've ever been in and then you love each other up afterwards. That's what this will be. This will be a dogfight out there and then there will be respect afterwards."

그런 이글스가 과연 카우보이스와 바이킹스, 그리고 (잠재적으로) 브롱크스를 제치고 플옵 1라운드 Bye를 얻어 낼지가 슬슬 흥미로워질 시점이 되었습니다.

일단 오늘 경기에 대해 간단하게 서머리하면 다운갱신, 토탈야드, 레드존에서의 성공율 등 모든 면에서 49ers를 압도했습니다. 다만 맥넵이 2번이나 인터셉트를 당했고, 여전히 패널티를 상대팀보다 많이 받는다는 점...그 패널티의 대부분은 부정출발(false start)이었던 것으로 기억됩니다....WR에게 너무 치우친 공격패턴을 보인다는 점이 아쉬웠습니다.

일단 리포터에 따르면 다음주 훈련에는 드디어 웨스트브룩이 참여하기때문에 다음주에 있을 브롱크스전에는 좀 더 다양한 공격패턴이 나오지 않을까 싶습니다.
작년 플옵 1라운드에서도 계속 바이킹스에게 밀리다가 웨스트브룩의 단 한 번의 빅 플레이로 경기를 앞도한 적이 있는데, 그런 웨스트브룩의 복귀는 루키 맥코이(LeSean McCoy)나 위버(Leonard Weaver)에게 집중된 플레이를 경감시키는데 도움이 될 것으로 예상되네요.

사실 웨스트브룩의 복귀를 아직까지 장담을 못하겠는데, 위의 리포터는 19일(현지시간)날 나온 것이고, 18일날 리포터에 따르면 다음주 경기에도 빠질 것으로 예상되었습니다. 즉....하루만에 새로운 리포터가 나왔지만, 하루만에 아주 긍정적인 리포터 역시 왠지 깨림직하네요.

또 한 가지는 2주차 경기 이후 무릎부상으로 전력외로 배치되었던 커티스(Kevin Curtis)가 오랫만에 돌아왔습니다. 물론 커티는 단 한 번의 리셉션만을 소화했지만, 그의 합류로 젊은 WR진들을 잘 이끌어줬으면 좋겠네요.
사실 그가 복귀하건, 하지않건 현재 이글스 WR진들(Reggie Brown, Jason Avant, DeSean Jackson)은 아주 좋은 상태지만...ㅎ

DeSean Jackson recorded his fifth 100-plus yards receiving game this season. That's just one behind Terrell Owens in 2004 for the most in a single season for the Eagles since 1960.

반면, 오늘 SNF(Sunday Night Football)로 치뤄진 캐롤라이나와 미네소타의 경기에서는 예상을 뒤업고 팬더스가 바이킹스를 제압했습니다. 이글스의 브랫 파(Brett Favre)는 4쿼터 결정적인 순간에 인터셉트를 당했고, 바로 다음 공격에서 TD을 내주면서 그 것으로 경기는 마감했다고 볼 수 있을 겁니다.

시즌 초반 파의 맹활약으로 연승을 이어가던 바이킹스는 피터슨(Adrian Peterson)이 제대로된 공격을 하지못하면서 바이킹스의 상승세도 이어가질 못했습니다.

반면, 바이킹스는 다음주에 MNF(Monday Night Football)로 베어스와 경기를, 최종주에는 뉴욕 자이언츠와의 경기가 남았습니다.

일단 상대팀 매치업을 고려할때도 바이킹스가 여전히 좋아보이는군요. 베어스는 이글스가 11주차에 경기를 해서 알 수 있듯이 그들의 엄청난 디펜스진들은 부상과 부진으로 과거 슈퍼볼에 올랐을때와는 다른 팀이 되어버렸습니다. 그런 팀을 상대로 최근에 슬럼프이지만, 언제든지 한 경기에 100야드 이상을 뛸 수 있는 AP의 존재는 바이킹스에게 여전히 큰 힘이 되어 줄 것입니다.
다만, 여전히 플옵을 위한 한가닥 희망을 이어가고 있는 자이언츠와의 최종전이 알 수 없는 상황이지만...

그에 반해 이글스는 당장 다음주에 패싱수비 2위에 빛나는 덴버를 어떻게 공략해야할지가 걱정입니다.

존 시컬스가 자신의 블로그에 벅스 Top 20을 올렸습니다. 일단 이 순위는 2월에 발행되는 순위와는 다를 수 있다고 하네요. 등급보다는 일단 코맨트 정도만 읽는 정도로 생각하셔도 될듯하네요.

1) Pedro Alvarez, 3B, Grade A: Bat looks excellent. Even if he moves to first base, his bat will be good enough for him to be an All-Star. Upside: David Ortiz.
타격이 아주 좋기때문에 1루수로 컨버전한대도 올스타가 될만큼 좋다고 하네요.

2) Jose Tabata, OF, Grade B: I don't know if I agree with the Pirates about his power, but I do believe them about his age and at 21 he is still VERY young with high upside.
일단은 21살의 타바타이기때문에 충분히 더 좋아질 수가 있겠지만, 아리송하다고 하네요.

3) Tony Sanchez, C, Grade B: He was a slight overdraft but I like him, excellent defense and it doesn't look like his power was all aluminum.
살짝 오버드레프트된 경향이 있지만, 본인이 좋아하는 선수라고 하는군요. 좋은 수비를 지니고 있고, 나무뱃에 적응을 했나 봅니다.

4) Zack Von Rosenberg, RHP, Grade B-: This is an aggressive grade for a high school pitcher with just one pro inning under his belt, but I really like his pitchability and have a strong intuitive feeling about him. He still has some projection left, too. Going to take a risk with this one and put him ahead of Alderson and Lincoln.
프로 지명이후 딱 1이닝만 투구한 고졸출신의 투수에게 이 등급을 준 것은 놀라운 일이지만, 그는 투구를 할 줄 아는 선수(pitchability)라는군요. 리스크는 분명 있겠지만, 앨더슨이나 린컨앞에 순위에 올린다고 하는군요.

5) Tim Alderson, RHP, Grade B-: Borderline C+. Loss of velocity and break on the curve is troubling, but he's still a guy who held his own in Double-A at age 20. Stock has dropped but still an intriguing property as an inning-eater type. Ranks ahead of Lincoln because he's younger.
등급이 많이 떨어진 앨더슨은 구속이 줄었고, 자신의 주무기인 커브가 난타당했습니다. 일단 그는 여전히 어린대다가 AA에서 뛰고 있기때문에 다시 반등할 가능성은 남아있습니다. 이닝이터타입에다가 어리기때문에 린컨보다 순위가 높다고 하네요.

6) Brad Lincoln, RHP, Grade C+: Borderline B-. Command looks all the way back, but components are more those of an inning-eater type than a true ace.
일단 건강해졌고, 에이스보다는 이닝이터타입이 될 가능성이 높다고 하네요.

7) Chase D'arnaud, INF, Grade C+: Speed, on-base ability, solid defense, might develop more pop. At worst a good utility guy and could get beyond that.
스피드와 출루율이 좋고, 좋은 수비를 자랑하는 체이스 다노는 더 많은 타구를 날릴 필요가 있다고 하네요. 못해도 좋은 유틸리티는 될 것이라고 하네요.

8) Starling Marte, OF, Grade C+: Uber-tools, particularly speed, but raw with the strike zone.
스탈링 마르테는 아주 좋은 툴을 지니고 있으며, 스피드가 좋지만, 스트라익존에 대한 이해도는 떨어진다네요.

9) Rudy Owens, LHP, Grade C+: Outstanding K/BB ratio. Was hittable after moving up to Lynchburg, though he maintained a good strikeout rate. Great command of decent stuff but need to see in Double-A.
올해 벅스팜 투수가운데 가장 좋은 활약과 발전을 이룩한 오웬스는 AA에서도 이런 모습을 유지할 필요가 있다고 하네요.

10) Ronald Uviedo, RHP, Grade C+: Live arm stands out but unsure of future role.
좋은 어깨를 지녔지만, 미래를 장담할 수없다네요. 10위라는 순위가 아깝다는 생각이 더 듭니다.

11) Victor Black, RHP, Grade C+: Another live arm, Dallas Baptist product has high ceiling but needs better control.
09년 드레프트에서 전체 49번으로 지명된 블랙은 강속구를 지닌 좋은 선수이긴 하지만, 컨트롤의 발전이 있어야 한다네요.

12) Daniel McCutchen, RHP, Grade C+: Old for a rookie at age 27, but has nothing left to prove in the minors and knows how to pitch. Another guy with a great K/BB ratio.
루키치고는 많은 나이의 다니엘 맥커첸은 더 이상 마이너에서 보여줄 것이 없는 선수입니다. 삼진/볼넷 비율이 좋다고 하네요.

13) Brett Lorin, RHP, Grade C+: Sleeper prospect snapped up from the Mariners, could rank as high as 10^th.
잭 윌슨 트레이드때 데려온 시애틀의 유망주입니다. 일단은 슬리퍼라고 하네요.

14) Robbie Grossman, OF, Grade C+: High strikeout rate is off-putting, but he also draws walks, steals bases, and has untapped power potential.
1년전에 비해 평가가 상당히 떨어진건 대책없는 그의 삼진비율때문이라네요. 당연한 얘기입니다. 일단은 퓨어 파워가 좋다고 하는데, 삼진을 줄이지 않고서는 별 필요가 없을듯 합니다.

15) Diego Moreno, RHP, Grade C+: Lively relief arm came out of nowhere, need to see at higher levels but could advance quickly as a pen asset.
나이많은 모레로는 일단 더 높은 레벨에서 자신의 강속구를 다시 한 번 증명할 필요가 있다고 하네요. 만약 그게 증명되면 빠르게 불펜에 도움을 줄 선수라고 합니다.

16) Justin Wilson, LHP, Grade C+: Component ratios at Lynchburg weren't great, but he has a good arm and lefties with above average stuff get plenty of chances.
작년에 벅스 5라운드로 지명된 윌슨은 린츠버그에서 좋은 모습을 보여주진 못했지만, 좋은 어깨와 좌완치고는 평균이상의 스터프를 지니고 있기때문에 올라갈 가능성은 있다네요.

17) Colton Cain, LHP, Grade C+: Could rank as high as 12^th. Another high-ceiling arm bought away from college like Von Rosenberg, though not as polished.
잭 본 로젠버그와 함께 돈을 많이 주고 계약한 고졸출신입니다. 12위 까지도 올라갈 수 있다네요.

18) Gorkys Hernandez, OF, Grade C: Baseball America has him at 10^th on their Pirates list due to his tools, but I'm starting to doubt the bat and his skills seem to be stagnating.
BA에서는 10위로 평가한 고키스는 시컬스순위에서는 끝도 없이 추락했습니다. BA는 여전히 그의 툴을 좋게 보지만, 자신은 그의 타격실력에 의구심이 들고 삽질할 가능성이 높다고 하네요.

19) Trent Stevenson, RHP, Grade C: Another young projectable high school arm bought out of college ball.
올해 7라운드에서 뽑은 스티븐슨은 로젠버그, 케인과 함께 많은 돈으로 프로행을 인도한 선수중에 한 명입니다. 7라운드치고는 35만달러를 받았으니 많이 받은 셈이죠.

20) Brooks Pounders, RHP, Grade C: Less projectable than Stevenson but another interesting prep arm. The rotation in the New York-Penn League and/or Low-A is going to be really intriguing in 2010.
스티븐슨보다는 실링이 낮은 파운더스는 그래도 흥미로운 유망주라고 하는군요. 내년엔 뉴욕팬리그나 싱글 A에서 뛸 것으로 예상된다고 합니다. 뉴욕팬리그에서 뛸꺼면 브래던턴에서 여름까지 있어야겠군요. 뉴욕팬리그는 풀시즌이 아니기 때문이죠.

This farm system is improving, thanks to trades, more aggressive drafting, and additional scouting in Latin America.
일단 팜은 아주 좋아졌습니다. 역시 돈을 투자하고 라틴 아메리카를 발굴했기 때문입니다.

Alvarez is the crown jewel, of course, and there isn't a lot really that needs to be said about him. Tabata is a more difficult case, since even if they're right about his age, he risks tweenerdom if his power doesn't come along. I like Tony Sanchez a lot and people need to lay off about the decision to draft him. They poured a ton of money into projectable guys in later rounds, and I think the strategy of mixing skill players with tool players will pay dividends.
위에 언급했듯이 산체스를 좋아한다고 하네요. 뭐 알바레스는 굳이 언급하지 않아도 다들 아시겠고....

The system is thin in position players beyond the top group. I like d'Arnaud but he may end up as just a good role player and not a starter. We'll know more once he faces Double-A pitching. Marte could be anything from a big star to a huge bust. Heavy investments have been made in young pitching recently. I like Von Rosenberg the best of the bunch, but Cain, Pounders, Stevenson, Dodson, and Miller all have significant upside potential. There are also live-armed guys who could help in the bullpen relatively soon, and there are inning-eaters such as Lincoln, Alderson, and Strickland to provide some leavening to the upside guys.
그리고 다노의 경우도 자신이 좋아하는 타입의 선수지만, 결국은 레귤러 선수가 되지 못할 것이라고 하네요. 일단 내년에 AA에서 자신의 가치를 증명해야겠죠. 툴과 운동능력이 아주 좋은 스탈링 마르테에 대해 시컬스도 관심을 드러내는군요. 그리고 올해 드레프트에서 뽑은 아주 실링높은 고딩들에 대해서도 관심이 높다고 합니다. 그리고 기존의 린컨, 앨더슨이 팜을 업그레이드 시켜줬다고 합니다.

If what I saw in Arizona is any indication, Donald Veal could be a surprise success in 2010.
내년에 다니엘 빌이 아주 좋은 시즌을 보낼지도 모른다고 하네요. AFL에서 이미 조짐이 보였죠.

The Pirates could use some additional bats to go with all these arms, but overall this is an organization on the right track in terms of player development. The debut of Andrew McCutchen was just the first step.

But regardless of the specific machinations that led to the current situation, it is now time for the Pirates organization to spread the word about the Marauders. The team's primary mark is a bushy-bearded buccaneer, who in addition to the requisite earring and eye patch also sports a hat featuring a pair of crossed bats.

작년까지 새러소타의 GM이었고, 새로이 브래던턴 머라더스의 GM이 된 댄 울퍼드(Dan Wolfert)는 이 팀이 빅리그팀과 관련이 있음을 강조하길 원하면서도 브래던턴 머라더스 고유의 색깔을 유지하고 홍보하길 원한다는 말도 함께 했다.

Tuesday's unveiling is the centerpiece of what the Pittsburgh organization has dubbed "Pirates Community Commitment Week." Players from throughout the farm system and big-league club (including outfielder Lastings Milledge, who grew up in the area), who are in town for a conditioning camp, have been scheduled to make a wide range of appearances throughout the community.
이 날 행사는 'Pirates Community Commitment Week'라 불리우는 행사에서 중요한 역할을 담당했고, 2차 Conditioning camp(1차 camp는 지난달 중순에 PNC팍에서 사흘동안 했습니다)를 위해 참석한 유망주와 빅리그 선수들은 이 행사참석이 예정되어 있다.

"We're in the education process now, but there's a great buzz in the community already," said Wolfert. "The Pirates have been ingrained here for the past 42 years, so there's already a lot of pride associated with this team."
울퍼드는 지난 42년동안 이 곳(브래던턴)에서 벅스가 많은 일들을 해왔고, 이미 이 팀과 많은 관련성이 있다고 역설했다.

Nonetheless, there's a big difference between MLB Spring Training and Minor League Baseball when it comes to ballpark atmosphere.

"[The fans] know Spring Training, but the Marauders are going have that affordable, fan-friendly Minor League feel," said Wolfert. "We have a small staff, but we're going to work hard and be as creative as we can when it comes to putting together a great product. ... This isn't something that Bradenton has experienced before, and I think they're really going to embrace it."

Add another eight names to the list, as the Pirates announced Monday afternoon that they had agreed to terms with another eight non-drafted free agents out of Latin America.
