Pirates starter Ian Snell will pitch for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, that nation's team announced today.
Snell was born in Delaware but has Puerto Rican ancestry on his father's side.
He is the first player off the Pirates' roster to be named to a Classic team, though at least a couple others are likely to follow. It will be Snell's first experience in the Classic.
