The Pirates today traded Brian Bixler to the Cleveland Indians for Jesus Brito in an exchange of minor league infielders, clearing space on the full 40-man roster for the signing of free-agent reliever Brendan Donnelly. The latter was made official this afternoon after he passed his physical.
Donnelly's financial terms are not available yet, but it will be a one-year contract with base pay of $1.35 million and performance bonuses that could double that.
Brito, 22, finished fifth among all minor league players with a .353 combined average between rookie ball and Class A. In 224 at-bats, he had 19 doubles, 10 triple, three home runs and 43 RBIs in 60 games. He spent the previous three years in his native Dominican Republic.
Brito does not have to be added to the 40-man.
몇 일전 브랜던 도넬리(Brendan Donnelly)가 벅스와 빅리그 계약을 했지만, 40인 로스터때문에 누굴 방출시킬지 감이 안잡히던 상황속에서 브라이언 빅슬러(Brian Bixler)를 인디언스로 트레이드했습니다.
도넬리의 신체검사가 통과되면 정식적으로 계약이 발표된다고 하네요.

On Brito: "He really came on this year. He's got good bat-to-ball skills, good strike-zone discipline. He's got a live, wiry body, so there's some room to add strength, too." I asked about Brito defensively, and Huntington responded by saying he played some outfield, some third base, and the Pirates are going to take a wholly fresh look at that for the coming year. That means Brito could end up playing pretty much anywhere. "There were some errors there," Huntington said of third base.
브리또에 대한 헌팅턴(Neal Huntington)의 코맨트인데, 좋은 타격스킬과 선구안을 가지고 있지만, 운동신경을 별로라고 하는군요. 브리또는 인디언스 조직내에서 3루수, 2루수, 좌익수로 뛰었지만, 헌팅턴은 아무래도 3루수 집중시킬 모양인데, 그는 올해 3루수로 출전한 47경기에서 19개의 에러를 범했다고 하네요.
빅슬러는 여전히 빅리그에서 '평균이상의 수비수'라는 평가뿐이어서 나이가 살짝 많지만, 빅슬러로 더 좋은 선수를 바란다면 욕심이겠죠. 아주 만족할만한 딜입니다.
빅슬러가 건너갔기때문에 올해 내야는 3루에 라로쉬(Andy LaRoche), 유격수에 세데뇨(Ronny Cedeno or Bobby Crosby), 2루에 이와무라(Akinori Iwamura), 1루에 존스(Garrett Jones)가 들어올 것으로 예상되며 바스퀘스(Ramon Vazquez)와 워커(Neil Walker)가 유틸리티 플레이어가 될 것으로 예상됩니다.
커리어를 찾아보면 타격면에서는 분명(약간) 크로스비가 앞서겠지만, 최근 상황을 본다면 그게 그거인거 같습니다. 두 선수간의 경쟁에서 탈락한 선수가 유틸리티 플레이어 제 1 옵션이 될 것으로 예상됩니다.
개인적으로 빅슬러로 아주 좋은 선수를 데려왔다고 생각되네요.
어제 신체검사를 통과해서 벅스공식홈피 로스터에 올려져있더군요. 올해 1.35M의 기본연봉에 인센티브로 (최대) 1.65M을 받는 계약입니다. 조금 많다는 생각이 드네요.
헌팅턴의 말에 따르면 작년부터 도넬리를 꾸준히 스카우팅했고, 벅스와 마찬가지로 대부분의 선수들이 어린축에 속하는 플로리다에서 선수들을 잘 이끈 경험을 높이 샀다고 합니다.
일단 07년에 TJS를 했고, 작년에 좋은 시즌을 보낸만큼 어깨에는 이상이 없을거 같고, 올해 더 좋아지지 않을까 싶네요.
