500피트짜리 홈런의 스텐튼

Mike Stanton isn't making it easy on the Marlins.

Stanton, amid weeks of speculation surrounding a potential promotion from Double-A, hit a home run that reportedly traveled an estimated 500 feet on Thursday night, clearing the top of the scoreboard in Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium.
플로리다의 최고 유망주인 마이크 스텐튼(Mike Stanton)이 최근 템파베이 더블 A팀인 몽고메리 비스켓스(Montgomery Biscuits)와의 경기에서 전광판위로 넘어가는 추정 500피트(약 152m)짜리 홈런을 쏘아올렸다고 합니다.

The 20-year-old Stanton, batting with a man on in the sixth inning, hit a 1-1 offering from Biscuits reliever Dane De La Rosa over the scoreboard in center, which sits over 400 feet away from home plate in Montgomery. The two-run shot put Jacksonville up, 8-3.
6회초에 비스켓스의 릴리프 데인 데 라 로사(Dane De La Rosa)를 상대로 전광판 넘어가는 홈런을 기록했는데, 현지글에는 중견수쪽 팬스가 400피트라고 되어있는데, 비스켓스 공식홈피에서 찾아보니 401피트네요. 뭐 그거나 그거나...


Stanton, MLB.com's No. 3 top prospect, leads all of professional baseball in home runs with 14, two more than Major League leader Paul Konerko. He has five longballs in his last eight games and is batting .343 this season as the Suns' No. 3 hitter.
올해 2월말에 이미 mlb닷컴의 유망주 전체 3위를 차지했었던 스텐튼은 벌써 올시즌 홈런이 14개째를 기록했으며, 지난 8경기에서 5개의 홈런과 .343의 타율을 기록중이라는군요.

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reported May 2 that the Marlins feel "there is no urgency to promote the 20-year-old slugger right now," both for developmental and financial reasons related to his arbitration eligibility.
당연한 얘기겠지만, 지금 시점에서 그를 (빅리그로) 콜업시키는 것은 무의미하겠죠. 아직까지 배워야 할(뭘??) 것이 많고, 경제적인 이유(슈퍼 2 조항이라던가)도 포함이 되겠죠.

The right-handed-hitting Panorama, Calif. native is batting .450 against left-handers and .307 against righties this year. He hit 28 homers last season between Class A Advanced Jupiter and Jacksonville after clubbing 39 in 2008 for Class A Greensboro.
minorleaguesplits에서 찾아보니 올시즌 100타수에서 뜬공비율이 50%(그라운드볼비율은 37%)나 되더군요.

작년 시즌 중반에 잭슨빌로 콜업되었을때 서든리그의 노련한 투수들과 타자에게 불리한 구장탓에 홈런이 많이 감소하리라고 생각되었고, 실제로도 좋은 모습을 보여주지 못했는데, 올해는 08시즌의 그의 모습 그 이상이 되어가고 있습니다.

더더욱 무서운것은 08년에 39HR .611의 장타율을 보여주면서 58BB/153K를 당했고, 작년에는 (다소 부진한) 28HR .501의 장타율을 보여주면서 59BB/144K를 당하면서 슬러거에게 삼진은 필수구나 싶었는데, 올해는 26BB/31K를 보여주고 있네요.

스텐튼의 팔길이는 왠만한 사람의 팔길이보다 더 넓어서 (지금까지) 너무 큰 스윙으로 일관했지만, 스텐스의 수정(or 교정)과 오프스피드 피칭에 대한 이해도가 높아지면서 지금의 결과가 된거 같습니다.

이 선수 벌써부터 무서워지기 시작하네요.

이 표는 08년 4월부터 지난해 5월까지의 삼진/볼넷 비율인데...뭐 따지고 보면 이 수치는 현재 아무런 소용이 없을거 같습니다.
